I picked up these NOS Mustang FE headers made by Shelby recently for my GT-500R (replica) and I was wondering what vintage they are. I had searched and searched for any info about Shelby headers and found nothing. His current company does not appear to sell headers. The address on the letter for Carroll Shelby enterprises is on Main Street in El Segundo, Ca. The date on the instructions is July 1968. Part number is GFMK-9428-A.

Anyone ever see these before? They appear to be treated with some type of Orange coating, then covered in black high temp. This apears to be original since the original Shelby sticker is still on one header. Are these vintage NOS headers from the mid sixties, or are these later headers from some other period? Were these made by Doug Holmberg (currently at DAH Header Works in Redondo Beach, California) who used to make the headers for Shelby?

GFMK-9428-A are listed in the 68 Shelby parts and accesories catalog as Shelby tuned headers w/extensions. The application was 67/68 Mustang w/390-427. In 1968 they sold over the counter for a whopping $140.00. If you have PS you need the GFMD-3351-A bracket. Cool item

They actually came with the original bracket with that part number on it, another bracket of undermined use, the collectors, the gaskets, and all of the original bolts!

Thanks for the info! That's cool!

Great find! They are "genies" from the late 60's. Shelby had a retail outlet
in El Segundo, just down Main Street from the LAX hangers. Used to stop by and drool a lot. Cobra front and rear bodyclips and hoods hanging from the ceiling, stacks of parts everywhere; Weber carbs sitting the counter, it was great! There is now a gas station where the store used to be.
