Last night I received a phone call from someone named Chad Strewer(?) who called me out of nowhere to see if I wanted to sell my GT350, as he had a client looking for a '66. I ask him how he obtained my number and he said he cross referenced many lists in my geographic area and started calling potential people. I told him no,but was wondering if anyone else received a call, or knows anything about this guy. First I am annoyed by the call, but also want to make sure this guy is legitimate, and not a potential thief/scammer. Jay
A least a few original Cobra owners have had unsolicted calls or e-mails asking if they would sell. I have had one but some others have had two or more. In 2004 Cobra owners were getting calls and e-mails from strangers during the selling/buying frenzy during that summer and fall. I don't know most of them but there are about eight people right now trying hard to find a real nice Cobra with no bad history or past serious crash repairs they can buy. Most of the people looking or their agents that have contacted me are looking for a car to drive (or at least that is what they have said).
Jay, I got the same phone call. He said he had a client that was looking for a 1966 GT 350. He said his client would pay $100,000 for a perfect car and may go up to $135,000 for a perfect "carryover" car. I talked to him for a while and told him I was not interested and wished him good luck. Russ
Russ, It sounds like he may be making the rounds in the southwest and trying to contact '66 owners. Last night I did a search with a different spelling of the last name and found it associated with a company in northern California that specializes in Racing and unique automobiles and so I am thinking it was legitimate phone call. Interestingly enough, he already has a '66 and '65 for sale on his web site for $300K each. It makes me think he is his own client and is looking for a '66 that he can jack the price up on. Jay
After my 67 GT350 was in Muscle Car Reveiw three or so years ago, I recieved 2 or 3 phone calls. Seemed to be feelers about selling it. The calls got short went a mentioned that it was not "For Sale" during the conversation.
