I have an opportunity to get a '68 Convertible, 6 Cyl, 3 speed manual, that now has a 289.

Is there any reason that this car would not be a good candidate for Shelby clone?

    Thanks

Probably a very good place to start. I would start with a rust free car if possible. You will spend a lot of money to get the rust work completed so really you might be further ahead to keep looking for that rust free car if this car is not so.

A Marti report might be interesting to see on your 6 cyl, 3 spd, vert. I think it has to be very rare the way it is equiped.

In that case you might consider just restoring the 6 banger to orignal specs.

    Good look anyway you go.

When they put the 289 in the car did they put all the v8 drive line and supension in the 6 cylinder car. I f not then you would have to up grade thst to.

I perfer that a 6 Cyl. Car is used, that way the V8 Cars can be restored back to stock. By using a 6 Cyl. Car, you are improving the Value of it a lot more then if you used a V8 Car.
