Hello everybody, I just bought my first Shelby now I am trying to find extra money to pay for it. I always wanted one but never had the guts to buy one. So for my mid life crisis I went for broke! Wanted a GT500 but when I saw the price I settled for the 350.
Yeah well..... when you're talking to the unschooled in Shelby literature they immediately think it's a GT500. I forgot that fact here. You can tell my age, I'm gettin' dumber as time goes on! Take Care and stay well. Doug
Congrats on the purchase Doug, looking forward to hearing your impressions about the car. I'm still a bit mystified why they didn't call this car the GT350, seems like the logical name IMHO. Hopefully it doesn't have anything to do with the Ford - Shelby legal issue in the 80's involving the rights to the GT350 name. Dave
A more logical reason would be that the licensing issue is already road-mapped and in place...such that when Ford runs thru the GT500s, the GT500KRs and the California Special redeaux, they have the GT350 next on the plate.
and now if you have a Super Charger installed in Las Vegas, you will get a "Shelby GT/SC" stripe on the side of the car instead of the plain old "Shelby GT" stripe!!
I think it becomes a High Dollar Pi$$ing Contest that I do not need to compete in. a Supercharger and two more letters on the side of my car that is already faster than 99% of everything I pull up next to on the street is not necessary. and then there is the problem that I have. a hopeless addiction to SPEED!! If I had a Supercharger, I would really be tromping this car!! I think it is great that SHELBY Autos is putting out some nice products (Even when it is all FORD Racing Engineered) and the fact that I was able to buy a New Shelby Mustang is a Reality most thought would never happen. I do recommend these Shelby GT cars as talk now has them falling way short of their previously thought goal of 6000 units to under 4000! these are way more exclusive than the Ford produced 07 GT500.
I'll let ya know more Dave, as it stands now I'm very happy with it. I don't plan on getting it out very often. It sure out handles my old 72 Mach1 or my 89 T-bird. I know unless I hit the lottery I won't be adding extra letters to the stripe. Thats for sure!
