I would like to repaint my original Koni's with the original color. Does anyone have any idea of a paint mix or spray can that's available.
    Thanks,

    Hi Dave,
When I repainted my 4-65 dated Koni's, I had a paint shop mix the color
using the untouched bottom of the front shocks as the guide.
They came out beautiful showing the dark red color.
There are some guys who sell paint cans with this color but I have
never seen them come out as nice as mine. Cleaning and a professional
    painter are essential as well.
If you want me to, I can visit the paint shop and get the formula.
I started a tread about this some months ago which I suggest you
    look at as well.

    Texas,
Thanks for the reply. If you could get the mix it would be greatly appreciated. I do have a guy that could shoot them for me. I did look up your previous thread on Koni's. Great stuff.
    Thanks,

    Hi Dave,
I will visit the shop English Paint here in Richardson tomorrow.
Looked at the can and the label they put on says:
    DELSTAR (DAR) 79995 CUSTOM FORMULA
    OEM Code 79995
The paint is made by PPG.
    Mixture is:
    Color DTR DXR
    8 6 1

This means 8 units color, 6 units reducer DTR602 and 1 unit
    Urethane Hardener DXR80.

Maybe the code is available in any paint shop's database but I will
    ask tomorrow.

Years ago I bought a custom mix spray can from Jim Cowles called "Burnt Orange" specifically made to match the original Koni color. Not sure if he still offers this but it may be worth a try.

    Hi Dave,
I visited English Color paint shop today and brought the can
with me. They said that the code DAR 79995 is the one created
for my mixture. If you visit your local paint shop they shall be able to
    mix it for you.
I ordered a quart and my friend painted my 4 shocks and another
8 I think and half the paint is still left in the can.

Thanks for all the great help. I will take the info to our local paint shop and see what they can do. Super.
    Thanks,

Virginia Mustang sells Koni orange paint and Cobra Automotive sells decals. I used this paint to touch up the top of the shock and it was a close match:)

    Hi,
My experience with the paint in a can is that the shade
is more orange than for original 65 Koni's that are more
darker red. Later Konis were more orange as far as I know.
The paint match the later ones better.
The decals are available from Koni US as well.
