The car will be between # 1600 and #1700 I owened 1595 and it had them I own 1732 and it does not ???? There are enough people on the list that have cars in between those What do you got ?????????

There may not be an absolute cut-off number if the cars were not built sequentially according to VIN. I'll bet that Snakepit or Patty D. will have a take on this. A look at the registry is sure to shed some light on this as well.

Good idea, Dominic. Just one more piece of the '67 production puzzle. The more we ask, the more we find out.

Just a quick question. What was the reasoning behind installing functional brake scoops on the 67, when they on the later 66 models had made them non functional because they wanted to cut costs?

I would think there should be a specific cut off/ last car, since, by 67, Shelby was building the cars in sequential (Shelby VIN) order in most cases. Since this was a running change in an effort to save $$'s and not something to do with a supply issue there should be a "last car" we should be able to identify.

With that ... I don't know that number (though Bob might know) Not something I've tacked or looked into ;)

What production 66 Shelbys didn't functional side scoops?

Sorry. For some reason I thought that the function side scoops were also part of what was changed early in the production year. Re reading the 97 registry, it seems that I´m wrong.

    # 1482 has functional side scoops...I have the daily production order of 4/6/67... it has 23 cars listed on it, both 350s and 500s, only lime or darkgreen, and shelby vin# range from 851 to 1513. Four of them are in the 800s-two in the 1200s-five in the 1300s-seven in the 1400s-five in the 1500s...
So according to my daily production sheet cars were not always assembled in numerical order, which I think would mean that it wouldn't have a certain vin cutoff but a cutoff date to when they stopped making the side scoops functional...

so what we are looking at is not only the last Shelby VIN, but what date did they stop.

I am standing by with a lot of interest . I have never been able to pin down a accurate VIN number on the non functional functional functional side scoop transition.

    AussieLand,
#1317 was built on schedule at San Jose by Ford on
1/31/67 but wasn't completed at Shelby until 5/25/67.
It was given DSO Item# 5811.

    Texas Swede,

Interesting, our cars will have similiar Plant build dates but yours was built at Ford before mine- my sheet metal is mostly dated late January and very early February. I only last week ordered a Marti report for my car, will be intersting to see the dates in comparison to yours.

For some reason your car took longer to complete at Shelby and therefore didnt get the functional scoops - invoice shows that my car was originally sold to Dockery Ford on March 31st.
