Hi All! I was wondering if i could have the Forum's help on locating an original 427 Cobra that was owned by my uncle. His name is David Becklean and he owned it from the late sixties to the early seventies. This was in Lee's Summit, Missouri. All i know so far is that the car was equipt with dual quads. I only have that info to start with but as soon as i get more i will post it. Thanks in advance for your help on this project, Vern
Good Luck tracking it down. I checked last night... the is no Becklean listed in the Registry as a Cobra owner. It might help if he recalls who he bought the car from....or who he sold it to.
I was contacted by the cobra registrar, Ed Scudder, who said that there was no David Becklean listed as well. However, i should have more info in the next week as my uncle is coming into town. Best Regards, Vern
After a long wait....i just got back from my much anticipated dinner with my uncle....it did not disappoint! He said that his car had...... 427 Side Oiler Dual Quads Roll Bar (Chrome) Side Exhaust (Chrome) Was sure that it had No Bumpers at any time! Hood Scoop Knock Off Style Wheels He was unsure about the style of gas cap (thinks it was a flip top) Didnt remember if it had the racing jacks front and back Dark Blue Paint Had a full wind shield He also explained that he sold the car after about 6-9 months of ownership because it scared the living hell out of hime. This means alot as this comes from a man who owned over ten hi performance corvettes in th sixties (427s and Fuelies) and also owned one of very few 1964 Factory Dodge Hemi Crossram Ramcharger Cars to get into public hands! He said that the gentleman that bought the car from him ended up flipping it a short time later. (the roll bar saved his life!) From there he knows nothing of the car. You'll have to forgive his memory as he just went through an extensive surgurey to remove a brain tumor. However, he is very excited that i am trying to find it for him and he is also excited that the forum members are helping me out. After all this talk about the cars, i showed him some vintage literature and you could tell that the car ment more to him than his 6-9 month ownership would imply! It was a very interesting and nostalogic night! PS- I am pretty sure that it was not a full comp car by his discription, however, even though it is a long shot, i think it might be a S/C. Any help would be much appreciated in the search for this car! Thanks Alot and Best Regards, Vern
Again, this may be the only way to find a lead... since his short ownership is not chronicled in the Registry.
Forgot to include the detail that he says that he has a few friends who should know who the origional owner of the car was. His memory just escapes him however. Best Regards, Vern
