Mid-engined Boss 429? I saw it in a magazine but never seen reference since

I thought maybe it was a Boss 302 which would make more sense, but on another forum somebody mentioned the existance of a mid-engined Boss 429. The very short story in the magazine was accompanied by a single picture, side view, shot from high with rear deck lid open. Car was stock looking, may have had unusual striping. I got the impression that it was built by Ford. I can't figure out why it was built, except that maybe they were testing the drivetrain of the Pantera? The first Panteras came on the market in 1971. But why use a big 429 when they could have used the 351? I can't remember the picture now (having seen it almsot 40 years ago) but it seems they would have had huge cooling problems unless the rear valance panel was changed to mesh as in the mid-engined Mach 1 show car. I am thinking it was a Petersen publication, maybe Motor Trend , that I saw it in.

By the way, over in England, Ford built some very unusual mid-engined vehicles just for show purposes, I think a couple were small commercial vans with giant V8 engines amidships, they would do wheelies and such. Those were built to entertain the crowds at large races during "half time" or whatever they call the period between races.

That's a much larger story you pointed out. I'll have to find that issue. Was the car found
in good condition? I wasn't surprised to read Passino's name--he was a key guy around that time , even rumored to
be the guy who edged Shelby out of fomoco.

There is also a picture of the engine bay on Fran or rather his sons Hernandez facebook page.
Stephen Strange once told me what happened to the car or chassis or engine, but need to dig for his answer...stay tuned. I forgot.
