The article on the interior says the tach and speedo have changed sides and have white backgrounds, but the current GT500 has this look with the tach and speedo on opposite sides than a regular Mustang. This is probably a 2010 GT500 prototype interior.

    2010 Mustang/Shelby

I was hoping they would go to a smaller car in the next generation, chopping off about
400 lbs. to make a better power to weight ratio. I guess they don't have to worry about the Challenger, that car is too big!

I haven't heard much about the new Camaro lately and wonder if it's so late in coming as a Mustang competitor that GM has changed their mind?

I hope if the new history of Shelby follows the Sixties chronology, as time goes on the Shelbys will look more and more different from the regular Mustangs, and get their own styling, with no body panel shared with the Mustang (maybe the '69 and '70 Shelbys shared doors with their Mustang kin?).
Certainly the Shelby Mustangs deserve it if they are bringing customers into Ford showrooms, or at least some lightweight (carbon fiber) body panels.

Though it looks like a 35 mpg mandate might come along by 2012, I think a 7 or 8 speed automatic transmission will help a lot in that regard, with the top three gears overdrive ratios. I've already driven cars with 6 speed automatics and they really smooth things out (to think I started with a two speed Powerglide way back when...) I am going to drive a Chrysler with the 4-6-8 engine and see if I can live with that...I know it was a flop in the Cadillac but that was before they have the software they have now.

I had one of those Caddys on lease back in the early '80's. It wasn't so bad once you got used to it.

and why didn't I buy a Shelby back then ???
