Here is something you don't hear very often. The silver stripes on my 07 black GT are looking better. I have owned the car a little over a year now. When I first bought the car it had been sitting on a dealers lot for a few weeks. It had the same problem as many folke on the forums have talked about. They were starting to fade and had water stains and some rust colored spots on them. I drive my car everyday. The only time I don't drive it is if it is snowing. The car also sits outside all the time. I searched the forum for ideas for what to use on them. I tried Plexus. That did not help much. I then bought a bottle of 303 protectant. That worked better but it was kind of uneven. and it did run a little in the rain. The 303 seemed to help keep the problem from getting worse over the winter. When spring hit I decided to try and clean them up as best I could. I used a pretty strong cleaner on the stripes. It cleaned all the old 303 and dirt off the stripes. They looked much better but kind of streaky. I bought a product I had used a few years ago at WalMart. It is called Protect-All. It is found in the RV section. I started using
it back in March. Since I have been using it my stripes are looking pretty good. There is still some fading but there are no more rust colored spots at all and very little water spots. When they start to look a little dirty I wipe them down with mineral spirits and reapply the Protect-All. I need to say it is best to do any of these things in the shade. Now that we are getting into the really hot weather we will see how they hold up over summer.

Thanks for the tip on the Protectal. I just bought my 08 SGT-C at the end of April and am learning the querks of these cars. I suffer saggy scoop and bacon stripe. A fix for both are in the near future.
