I have been trying to buy it for two years. Finnaly got it this last week end. It's a true K GT coupe, best as I can tell anyways. Let me know what you think. Larry
New toys are hard to find in that condition. But they are a lot of fun to play with. I like my little coupe as well. Yours is a little younger by about a year!!
Thanks guys. I agree the cars are under appreciated. Right now I think they are the best bang for the buck on the muscle car market today. Sadly this car dosen't look as good in real life as it does in the photos. It drives like a brand new 66 car except for braking. Right now my plans are to fix the brakes and drive the pi$$ out of it. Later I will decide wether to do a rolling cosmetic resto. or take it down and do a rotissory restoration. Larry
Absolutely gorgeous. K- code 289 with a toploader, doesn't get much better than that. Love the color!
That's a great little car! I have a '65 GT coupe, but mine's not a K, it's just an A. I wasn't in the market for one when I bought it, I just stumbled into it and couldn't pass it up. The guy had bought it from the original owner (his next door neighbor) and had done some poor work on it. He didn't know what a GT was so the price was really low, and the lights had been stolen (literally torn right out of the grille), the stripes were taken off and the badges painted over. The '65's are a hair easier than the '66's to distinguish a true GT from a dealer GT because of the notch in the dash for the GT gauges (the door tag did not indicate deluxe interior, which would be the only other way the dash sheet metal would have the relief), among the other tellings of a true GT, so I was able to confirm it was real. It's a blast to drive. I'd intended to do a quick flip on it to help out my "Future Shelby Fund", but here it is a year and a half later and I still have it. My kids love going for rides in it. You're absolutley right, they're a blast to drive. I can only imagine how much more fun it would be with a K engine. Enjoy it!
