I spent part of the day pulling out some boxes of old parts and need some help figuring out what I have. I bought some of these parts many, many years ago before prices for things went way up, so I am not sure they are as presented but if not, they did not cost much at the time so no major loss. The descriptions are what they were sold as, so they may not be accurate, but I would appreciate help with confirmations, or re-IDs as appropriate. Hi-po Dampner with C8ZE-A SD L8 on the side Hi-Po Carb with a 112 in a circle and a stamp of C40FAL on one of the flanges 2 hipo distributors with date codes of 4JB and 5EB. Is the first # the year, 2nd digit the month and the last the week? A Shelby Holley 3259 with a date code of 581. Is this a '65 carb built of the 81st Day? A 3259-1 Holley with a date code of 3463. I think this a fairly recent service replacement, but not sure. Thanks, Jay 6s081
The C4OF-AL carburetor is a very desireable HP289 one that was used on or sold as an accessory for several vehicles including Tigers and Cobras. The List 3259 Holley's date 581 = 1965 August First Week. The List 3259-1 Holley is a service replacement. The date is a Julian one with the last character being the year if I remember correctly. That would make 3463 = either (if I did my calculations correctly) Wednesday December 12, 1973 or Monday December 12, 1983.
Balancer C8ZE-A SD L8 Is a service replacement which was available at least into the late 90's The distributors would not include the decade so you need to look to see if they are cast FoMoCo, Autolite or Motorcraft to give you an idea( along then with the date) if they are original or service replacement parts
Thanks for the info guys, it looks like the parts are as represented to me when I bought them. As for the distributors, they are both FOMOCOs. Does that help nail it down better? Jay
Hi Jay, Would you be interested in selling any of these parts? My father may be interested for his '65 hipo convertible. If so,email me at gmurphy@mountaincable.net .Thanks...Greg.
