Quick question - Looking ot buy a 67 or 68 shelby. Do you have to pay in order to search the shelby registry for a cars correct information? I have seen a car i might want to buy and trying to figure out of it is real or a clone thank you
You do not have to pay, the information is published. Unfortunately, the new information is in the process of being updated. It is a BIG task to keep track of 14,000 plus original Shelbys. Your best bet is to find someone in the club that can share what is known about the car. I have found if you share information with the club, they are a lot more likely to share information with you. (You know the story, nothing is free). Identifying a clone is a snap, drop me an email and I will do my best to help. Get the VIN and any other door codes you can find. Coralsnake68@hotmail.com
Thank you for the reply! I am looking at 2 cars currently. One is 67 and one is a 68 The one I like the best is 8T02J155485 - vin 1968 gt350 The other one is registry number #1347 1967 gt 350 Since I am total new to the shelby universe I was trying to go on line to find out more about these 2 cars and to see what I could learn prior to having it inspected. I was told thru the Shelby registry you can get alot of information (did not know if you need to pay to become part of this or what the internet address was). I did see some info on the '67 car but could not get it on the 68. Additionally, I was going to try and hire someone to take a look at the 68 (or the 67 if the 68 does not check out). Any ideeas on findong someone in northern california that might be able to take a look at the car for me and check it out. I was not sure the best way to find someone with shelby experitise that can do an inspection? I have to say I am really excited to be part of the shelby club (and get one of these cars). Or if anyone is out there and knows of a car I should consider please let me know! Mark
Hi Mark, Wise decision hiring someone to check it out. I'm about as far from you as can be but pm me or Pete (coralsnake) and we can give you some names. (I'm thinking of one in particular in your area)
Re: Help - Looking to hire someone in Northern Cali to check out a 68 Shelby for me Mark, most of the same crew that cruise the Shelby Forum are on the SAAC forum as well. It is a close community. Your duel posts here and on the SAAC Forum will yield the same info on this subject. Contact Tim or Pete. I am pretty sure I know who they have in mind but would be impolite of me to walk on their efforts. The best of luck on the results of your car quest. Bob PS I don't live in northern CA area
Re: Help - Looking to hire someone in Northern Cali to check out a 68 Shelby for me Thank you Bob. I reached out to Tim and Coralsnake and they have been real helpful Mark
