OK, take it easy on me, folks, I'm new to this site...and hopin someone can help me. Have two questions. First of all, how do I figure out what the production number is for this 68? the VIN is 8T02J165370-01958. I've read a lot of online literature on this, and apparently I'm not that bright...cause I still can't figure it out!!! Secondly, can anyone tell me if this is in the Shelby registry...in other words..is this a real deal? any help appreciated!! thanks a bunch!

First of all welcome to the site. As far as 68 GT 350 fastbacks there were 803 regular and 224 Hertz cars built. There was a 68 GT 350 built with the VIN you've listed (not a Hertz) but that won't confirm its what you are looking at (is it real). PM me and I'll give you more details on the car. It actually was shipped to a dealer in my region originally.

And this is NOT the "Shelby Registry". That is put together by the Shelby American Automobile Club AKA "SAAC". And there is a website for them too.
And from that website, you can reach the 68 registrar. Do it soon as a new printing of the registry will be coming sometime by the middle of this summer or so.
