    Next Generation Shelby Mustang
What have you heard surrounding this car? Will it be produced? What do you think the price might be and what kind of performance can we expect? Is the prototype built and ready to show? If you are interested, you might want to get on over to the New York auto show later this month and see what Ford has in store.

Check out photos of the new Shelby GT500 in our gallery!

Check out the March 2005 Motor Trend for more specifics on the car.

Can't wait to see if they go all out with special Vin Plates, Limited production and High Performance that leaves the originals in the dust!!

Anyone else planning to get to the NYC show? I plan to go Sat., 4/2. Any way to ID others logged onto this site? It would be pretty cool to meet some of you. I plan to be wearing my track (Cecil County Dragway) 'colors' and spending a lot of time around the Ford exibit.
After checking out the NYC show link, I only saw pics on a GTR; is this the next Shelby? Quess I'll have to find a March "Motor Trend". It would be sweet if the price could be kept under the luxury tax threshold and meet the performance of the C6! Too much to dream for?

The price has been listed on various sites. I guess we wont know for sure until it hits the dealers. I would assume there will also be a dealer mark-up. More info should be available on Wed. 23rd. I will post all I find here.

My wife just heard about the release of the new Shelby GT 500. She called me at work to tell me she thinks I should buy one! No argument from me.

My gal - she is a keeper.

Good deal! I'm with you. I am almost certain I will be getting one as long as I: A-dont have to pay a premium, B-get the color I want and C-They don't cheapen it to save money

Ken, you bring up three very good criteria. I might consider a modest premium; but I'd better get something for it! I'll be checking w/ my local SVT dealer soon. My lady is open but not enthusiastic; we'll see.

The internet is the best source of information. FORD dealers have no clue. 7500 cars is a healthy production number considering the amount of Mustang Enthusiasts out there as well as the new converts that are joining Daily. I want a Convertible GT500! :cigar: :guns:

Hmmm, relatively un-small production number, reasonable price . . . I may get to drive one at the car wash I work at! Alright well maybe not, but if the Saleens can make it, I don't see why these would be a problem.

Newer information points to higher production numbers than I originally posted. From Ford, they stated that they will build as many cars as needed to satisfy the demand. I guess we will find out in the coming months.

    Re: Next Generation Shelby Mustang

OK gents; I've stopped at my local SVT Ford dealer and here is the scoop from him. Reliability of this info is not guarenteed. His dealership is guarenteed at least six GT-500s. Price has not been set and deliveries will not begin until sometime in '07. Orders can be placed now but it is unknown when they would be picked up by Ford. This dealer has never & does not plan to add any surcharges to the MSRP. They did not do this w/ the last Cobras, nor are they doing it w/ the present GTs. He did not speak about convertibles. I personally would not want one. It would require too many added safety items to enjoy on various tracks. I want to keep this puppy pure. Oh, did I mention that I ordered one? He will be getting back to me when a deposit would be necessary. He said $100 would be enough!?! I had to give him three choices of color; he'd try to work on getting my highest preference available.
He also mentioned that the car was unveiled at the NY show. I'm definately going this Sat. Will I see anyone there?

I also stopped by my local SVT dealer. After he made several call he gave me the following information. Price range is between $45,000 to $50,000. Same price range as a Roush Stage 3. 12 to 14 months until delivery. The last thing he told me is the National Ford SVT dealers will get between 5 to 7 GT 500.

Any word on how many years they plan to produce it? May be worth waiting for 08 and pay under sticker.

Are any SVT dealers taking deposits for the new Shelby GT500 and if so are they selling the cars at MSRP or marking up anything? I have contacted two local SVT dealers and can't get an answer.

    Re: Next Generation Shelby Mustang

Re. Premiums: It looks like a dealer to dealer choice. My guy says there will not be a premium.
Re. MSRP & duration: 02stang's info of $45-$50K sounds about right. Waiting until '08 might work IF; they are produced for that long, & CS is still w/ us. Once he's gone, I bet you won't be able to find one (maybe production would stop?). I'll ask about duration at the show.
Re. Deposits: My dealer is taking deposits and holding on to check until Ford picks up the order. Again, depends on your dealer. He is getting 6. My name is already on one.

    Re: Next Generation Shelby Mustang

im also interested to get one. would appreciate it if anyone knows when and how to reserve a unit. I just hope that the production model would have a sporty interior and not a luxurious one as it was released in new york. I would want the vintage rollbars and folding rear seats and side scoops of the 67 shelby gt 500. I wish they would release this option.
