OK, here is what the Ford dealers should be doing. Since Ford has not officialy released the Shelby for production , the SVT dealers should only be taking names of people who would like to order a car. They have no codes to even start to place an order, no options or time table. The best he would tell me is that fall of 2006 would be first releases as an 07 car. My name is first on a list of customers to be contacted when they can do a real order . By then options and prices will be known, if you want one have your name at least put on a list and contact them as you here news .

I had a pleasant chat w/ the Ford rep at the NYC Auto Show, who confirmed Tout's message regarding what SVT/Ford dealers should be doing; taking names. This is a direct responce marketing tool; so get your name on a list at an SVT dealer, it's not a commitment until a deposit is needed. He also confirmed an Oct. '06 availability of the '07 model, that a multi-year run can be expected, a blown 5.4 is the motor (no power #s), and they are trying to keep price under $40K (I'll believe that when I see it). This would lead me to think that there will not be cool performance items like rollbars. My name is also first on the list at my nearest SVT dealer along w/ my color choices. Another thing: The rep suggested visiting www.media.ford.com regularly for the latest updates. This anticipation is great!

Oscar, you and your friend should go to the nearest SVT dealer where you live, that will be the place you you actualy will order from when the time is right. They can also keep you updated as to progress at SVT, there are new people in charge and getting going again has taken longer than expected , they now over see all special projects at Ford, things like the Mach 1 .The shelby is one of 2 or 3 things that are being pushed right now and the GT40 has had setbacks ,so you can see why people are in the dark on things.

read the article in motor trend and it said that the price of the new shelby will probably be in the $40t to $45t dollars, they might add more options and a bigger engine and this will be an additional $10t dollars. but the ford people do not want it to be priced over the new corvette. a friend just got the irst new 2005 corvette in manila, also had the upgrade suspension for $10t dollars over the market price and had to wait for a couple of months when they ordered it from a dealer last december 2004. will check the local svt dealer, a lot of them are not even aware of the new shelby mustang thats just been unveiled in the ny show.

Gantlemen; you may be interested in checking out the May issue of Car & Driver. There is a short blurb, on pg.36 I think, about the GT-500 which confirms what the Ford rep told me at the NYC Auto Show (probably the same source). Price starting under $40K, 450+ HP 5.4L supercharged motor connected to 6-speed and solid rear w/ SVT calibration changes, and 14" ft. & 13" rr. Brembo brakes. The inflated prices some of you are getting may be including their premiums. I'm so glad my dealer does not deal w/ premiums. Rusty

Hi, I work for Dale Jarrett Ford in Indian Trail (suburb of Charlotte) NC.

We are starting a waiting list for the 2007 Shelby GT500. At this time, the dealership policy is to NOT charge a dealer adjustment on vehicles. I think that as long as Ford produces the numbers they are saying, we will likely continue that policy.

We are not accepting cash deposits until we have the order material that won't come until next winter/spring. That may change if we start getting a high volume of inquiries and we want to weed out the "lookers".

If you want to contact me you can do so at cwillden@dalejarrettford.com or cwillden@bellsouth.net and I will be happy to respond.

I hate to tell you this, but your dealer is full of cow poop. It is physically impossible for a dealer to enter an order into the Ford ordering system at this time. A lot of dealers are taking deposits to guarantee they have enough orders to fill their allocation for as long as they can. The earliest Ford says these vehicles will be built is June 07, so a dealer may see one in June, but more likely July or August.

Wow! Such angst. Go back through the history of these postings. Names are being taken for a read on interest. No money is needed now because there are no order numbers as yet; ie."it is unknown when Ford will pick up orders". With only six per SVT dealer, a name on a list for first six orders may be important if you want one. Rusty

they might still be figuring out how many people will be really interested to seriously purchase the new shelby gt 500!! the best way is to make a site make interested parties register and also put in thier suggestions as to what they expect from the new shelby.I just hope that we dont have to go thru an auction or even to pay a premium to get the car. the price is still uncertain from $35t to 45T dollars and some even say that it will not be priced like the new corvette.

I e-mailed one of the local dealers here in the Seattle area this weekend to inquire about what they are doing to reserve cars. For now this dealer has started a list (I'm #3). It looks like, according to the person I spoke with, dealers will be taking names now and deposits sometime around the first of the year. Another interesting note is the quantity this dealer thinks will be produced is going to be closer to 15,000. He even said that 9,000 of these will be hard top and 6,000 may be convertible! He wasn't sure about this and this is the first I've heard of an 07 convertible. A final note is concerning distribution to dealerships. This particular dealer sells many SVT vehicles and Ford will distribute more GT 500's to the dealers that have sold more SVT product - sounds fair. With being one of the larger dealers in the area, they are still only expecting to get an allocation of 12 first run GT 500's.

Better put your name on a list now to get one of the most beautiful muscle cars produced since the 60's.

P.S. I’m new to this ShelbyForums.com thing so I hope this information is useful.
