Hello, I'm in need of some help. I've been searching for several weeks now and I cannot find an answer anywhere so I apologize if i've overlooked something.

I'm installing the oil pressure gauge in the center console and ordered up the correct pressure sender that fits on the oil adapter. No problems there. I understand it works like a resistor and sends the signal to the gauge.
But what about the "idiot" light under the tach?
From what I've seen it works the same as the pressure gauge but instead of a sender we would use a oil pressure switch.
How can there be both if there is only one place for a switch/sender to go?
is the idiot light rendered useless if you use a console gauge?

    Many thanks for your help!

    Stan

The idiot light is not used on the Shelby from the factory. It is pretty useless anyway . It only lights when there is 5 psi or less . By that time it is pretty much too late. You can rig up a tee fitting and use a idiot light switch but to me it is worthless. Bob

You just saved me several more weeks of searching, scratching my head and cursing at my wiring harness.

    Very much appreciated :)

Assuming you have a 68, the oil gauge wire came out the firewall, along the intake manifold, to where the oil light wire branched out of the factory harness. The light wire was clipped at that point, and the gauge wire was attached to the cutoff piece with a Scotchlock, and the OE piece of wire was re-connected to the gauge sender, installed where the oil light sender was. The oil light simply didn't work anymore, it was pretty useless anyway. When that light comes on, you should immediately shut the engine off and coast to a stop.
