#552 - owned since 1997, 4 spd, non a/c car, originally lime gold (then red, currently dark blue)

The car needed pretty much everything when I bought it. I've since restored the car mechanically so I can drive it and have some fun on the track. Cosmetically needs a lot of work but it's a good "10-footer".

New to Shelby forums- Not new to Shelbys though. I bought '68 model GT500 #985 new in Oct. 1968-owned it ever since. I can remember being on dealer's lot looking around at all different colored Shelbys and trying to decide which one to buy. I finally decided on an Acapulco Blue one. Wish I could go back there today and buy every one on the lot! It remains in original condition today, except for the 2 stupid speakers that I put in the inner trunk lid behind the rear seat. This car also has the original spare tire -with a grand total of 46 miles on it!

Original owner car, very cool - welcome to the site.
    Is the car a "Survivor" <original paint, etc.> ?

46 miles?! That is amazing to have such a low mileage car. One question...how could you have only driven the car the car 46 miles? Was it disassembled or not running? I would like to see some pix. Thanks.

Hey guys- sorry for the mix up. Yes, the spare tire has 46 miles on it. The car has about 70,000 miles. The Shelby was driven like it was meant to be driven- it's not a trailer queen.

Here area a few photos of my 68 GT500 as it first appeared with its orginal owner in Florida (taken the first week he had it) and one as it sits today under my care. It was very cool to have a chance to talk with the original owner of my car and even cooler that he still has these polaroids and was willing to share them with me. One repaint 25 years ago, original everything including 46K miles and interior. Thanks,Greg

67 gt500 #2510. Was crashed in the early 70's and parted out. Luckily alot of the rare stuff like the roll bar, harnesses, and steering wheel stayed with the car but the original engine and trans are long gone.
Car will get a 68 428CJ and either a tremec or a toploader-haven't decided yet.
It's going to be the original Acapulco Blue.

Here is the latest on my Katrina restoration, the body is done and now it is time to put her together again. It is ironic that the day we finish the paint it rains on us and that the last time that it was freshly painted and put together it was under eight feet of water.
    I wonder if I should of bought a submarine.
