I have watched, with some interest, the comments made about the prices paid for NOS parts for Shelbys. The same phenomenon can be seen with the BJ auction, when people with more disposable income than should be legal, pay exorbitant prices just to satisfy their ego and the desire to say "look what I got!" Are those cars worth it? Only to the 2 or 3 bidders who participate in this ego massaging practice. The same thing happens to some buyers of NOS parts. As soon as you put an NOS part on your vehicle, it is no longer NOS unless you are doing a thoroughbred restoration. As Kenny says, at the right price, install an NOS part or, at much less cost, a used original in really nice condition. The practice of overpriced parts would disappear overnight if we, the buyers, just stopped buying! But.......the old ego would take a beating. Maybe P.T. Barnum was right. Anyhow, excepting those folk doing thoroughbred restorations, prices on NOS parts will continue to rise as long as there are buyers who just cannot resist that surge of adrenalin. Just my $.02 worth.
