I've been planning this build for a long time. After dropping a valve in my aluminum 427 Tunnel Port while drag racing in my old ERA #002 several years ago, I had planned to have it rebuilt and drop it into my 67 GT500. Before it could happen, divorce caused me to sell the Shelby and eventually my first cobra. I held onto the engine, survived the divorce and started accumulating parts. I finally got the engine rebuilt and waited on the right fastback to come along. The drivetrain is in and the car just came out of paint. After color sanding and buffing this week I'll be bringing it back to the home shop for assembly. Hopefully I'll have it finished by spring. I know I'll probably never be able to afford another Shelby so hopefully this will fit the bill. You can see pics on this link to my photo gallery in clubcobra. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=17331

I'd probably bow down in the presence of the original super snake. It's been my dream car since I first saw it in a magazine. This car isn't trying to be a clone by any stretch of the imagination, maybe a tribute though in a way. Regardless, it oughta be a hoot to drive, and driving it is exactly what I'm building it for.

Well, if next spring you ever drive it a few hours northwest let me know I would love to see it in person. I have had my 67 in Columbus a few times for the show at a Ford dealer in that area. I can't recall the name now but, I believe the owner raced Shelby's in the 60's.

Ill do my best to do that. When I had my Shelby I took it to National Trail Raceway every sept. for the NMRA/Ford Expo show. It's not too far from columbus. The plan is to have this car there next fall if all goes well.
Didn't you say you have relatives in this area? If so and you ever get down this way for a visit let me know and if you have time you can stop by.

Looks like Unique Performance will have my Convertible SuperSnake done next month. They are only making 7 of them. I will post some pics when I get them this month.

It has a Shelby Aluminum 427 that puts out 525 HP plus a 200HP Vortex supercharger. Can't wait to see what it does in the 1/4 mile.
