I am still looking for Chassis numbers for the GT350R.
Does anyone on this list have an R model, or know of someone that does?
A number should be something like this --- 5R09KXXXXXX.
I am attempting to find out how close my car (which is a recreation) is to the original numbers.

hey there Cassidy.....why don't you approach this from another angle and post your 6R09K....number and hope that an 'R' model owner reads it and
is able to tell you that you are say ...10 off or whatever - just a thought.
    cheers. B)

The R models are all listed in the Registry with their Shelby number, but I doubt anyone is going to provide the Ford VIN number.

The Shelby American Automobile Club has all of the the Ford VIN numbers for
all Shelbys. Why don't you just ask them to give them to you?

They do have them all but it is SAAC policy to NEVER give out the Ford VIN for ANY Shelby. This is cast in stone. The only thing they will do is confirm that your Ford VIN falls within the correct range of Ford VINs for your Shelby's VIN. Don't even bother to ask for a Ford VIN, the answer will be no. This is to prevent someone from "finding" a missing car. Imagine for a moment that someone wanted to create a clone car and pass it off as original. All they would have to do is go through the registry and pick a VIN for a car that has no history listed with it and claim that was the car they had. Authenticity would then be lent to the claim by having the Ford VIN. Consider the reaction from someone who suddenly found out the his really big bucks investment was a fake. Not to mention the confusion surrounding the original if it should ever be found. We'd end up with many more cars than were originally built. This is smart policy on SAAC's part.

r model Ford numbers would be considered double triple top secret. It would take water boarding to get them. That said, the r models were made in small batches and the registry will tell you the dates. You can compare your car's build date to see if its close to one of those batches. That would be a long shot that it is close and what do you gain if it is. If you have a k code that alone should give you the satisfaction you are seeking.

Just a minor correction - Yes they have the Ford vin for each car, when you ask them to confirm your #, they will not tell you if it is in a range, but will confirm only if it is the exact correct # in correlation to the Shelby vin you must tell them as well. While the cars were built at San Jose' in batches, they were not brought into Venice or LAX in the same Ford Sequential order, so there are known ranges, but SAAC knows the exact Ford to Shelby #'s.

Examples: 1) I find SFM 5 017. I inspect car and determine that the car has all the correct Shelby parts & modifications, Shelby tag is an original (I have a collection of pix of original tags - its a obsession) Owner will not allow me to check Ford VIN # until I give him some $. I know before hand the approximate Ford # based on seeing others, but not the exact Ford #. We pop a rivet and I call Howard from my cell phone <He was expecting my call> He has the Ford # in front of him and confirms it is exact for the Shelby vin I just read to him. He then asks me to find a few date codes for someone who is restoring a car near my Shelby #.
    2) Shelby is on eBay - seller's name is in last 2 registries as owning SFM 5s2xx.
pix show what looks like a Shelby, but battery is in front <SFM 5s325 and higher> car has reproduction Shelby vin tag, a few other inconsistancies.
Seller posts a pic in ad with the Ford vin uncovered. It is a 5R09K # - great!
SAAC sees the eBay ad and looks up the car - Ford # is for a car that was stolen many yeras ago, apparently the thief just put a repo tag on it and sold it as a legit Shelby. Police are involved, car is removed from eBay.
    3) Car is found, just a wrecked shell - Ford vin drivers side has two holes on either side indicating rivets were once there - passenger side apron is gone.
Maybe a Shelby? Seller can call SAAC and give them only the Ford # - They will not tell him if is a Shelby until he can provide the Shelby vin. Seller rants and raves - never gets anything more than the same answer - tell us what Shelby vin is and we will confirm. (Info from Ford vin noted next to Shelby # in SAAC records as possible re-body?>

I once had the oportunity to hold the sacred text, a ledger that has the info for all of the early cars, and I was only allowed to glimpse at an open page, I guess Rick would have hit me If I took out a camera or started taking notes:alarm:

The only thing I can tell Cassidy is that the R's were built in 4 seperate groups, so there is a chance that if your clone is a 5R09K car it could be near a legit R or an S, but most likely it is not, as the Shelbys were built as groups of cars to make the production line move along.
