    It's pretty common for automobiles in general. There are two different "run"
    wires; one connected to the run position and one connected to the start
    position. So the car runs as long as the starter is engaged, but when you release
    the key from the spring-loaded position, the car shuts off if the other wire
    (or that position on the switch) is compromised.
