  1. I have done several of the AOD conversions for people and the work great for
cars that are used as crusers. if you want to go high performance it becomes
an expensive trans built for the trans to hold up. the trans is sensitive to
the throddle position adjustment and the trans will not function properly and
will be short lived if you do not do this correctly. there is a difference
between the linkage on the side of the trans between the carburated and injected
cars ( you will need the lingake for the carburated cars). you will want to get
all the throddle position linkage from a carburated car and you will need the
adapter linkage for the carb that is commonly known at the 'kickdown linkage'.
I always made my own trans cross member but there are several aftermarket
ones available now ( although I think they are pricey)
if you are using headers, the size of the belhousing and the starter position
can give some trouble and may need you to 'tweak' the headers a bit. I
usually bought the painted headers so I would not chrige at the thought of a little
    heating and bending.

just on a side note while I am mentioning headers.
I am the process of finishing a new engine for my 69 conv. I wanted to go to
headers but did not want to use the drop bracket for the power steering.
instead I got the shelby tri-y headers and procedd to cut them apart and do a
little re-routing so they go over the power steering without a problem. after
grinding out the welds and a thermal coating, I am sure some people will be
wondering how I got the headers in without the drop bracket.
