I built a pull behind trailer shaped like a tear drop (patterned after antique campers). It is designed to go behind the street rod I have never built. I used an axle from Northern Tools, shortened it to match the track of a 65 Mustang. It has five lug Ford pattern hubs so I used aluminum ranger truck wheels which are the same width and diameter as a Mustang. The frame is made of 1 1/2 thin wall square tubing with alumimum riveted to the outside. The bed is 4' x 6' with a marine plywood floor. The top is hinged at the back and opens like a clam shell. It has steel fenders, steel tongue and a folding tongue jack. Yes, it has 65 Mustang tail lights. It might weigh 300 pounds soaking wet. I have hauled complete engines with automatics in it. I had a Hidden Hitch on my 01 Mustang GT and really got the looks at the dump when I hauled trash in it. Empty, you don't even know it is behind a Mustang. You could do something similar with a home made frame and some repo sheet metal (who cares if it does not fit the Mustang properly).
