    GREAT reminder, Mike. Given SAAC's slogan "Ownership not essential;
    enthusiasm is", the first place to consider may well be a "non-owner" club member who
    loves these cars--and possibly contributes more time & effort to making the
    club "work" than many of us who're lucky enough to own these cars. An evening
    or wkend "test drive" or a few (rapid) "parade" lap rides for volunteers at
    HPDE events--especially the corner workers, who spend the whole day watching us
    play--involves little or no cost, risk or effort on our part...and has great
    potential to be even more fun than playing with the car alone.

  2. one of the highlights of going to the SAAC open track events for me has been to have the opportunity to ride in cars I will never by lucky enough to own. and you are right, different versions of the same car feel different. they just about have their own personality
    one of the cars I have always wanted to see in person is the 63 mustang II show car. if I had unlimited funds I would take a mustang conv and turn it into a copy of that car. I got an opportunity to see the car at the petersen museum not too long ago and I know the sign says 'dont touch' but could not help myself. there is something so much more real about toushing it or getting in it. belive me I would have gotten in if I did not belive thet I would be escorted out asap.
