Re: Low gloss black paint for engine compartment

  1. The top of my engine was redone about 4 years ago with hardened valve seats
to (near)original specs. The car runs great, the only mechanical flaw I have
is my stupid upper control arms squeaking, which will be swapped out in the
    next week or two.
The issue for me is complex in a way. It would not take too much to make my
car into a show piece. I win or place at most of the car shows I go to,
including the Mid America Ford meet in Tulsa. I do drive my car fairly
regularly and don't want to make the car into a full size model. So I tend to make
what I have look as good as possible without redoing the entire car or
    sections like the engine compartment.
If I can get the shock towers to stay even shades without any drips, I would
be very happy. I had them painted three years ago without pulling the
engine, but they didn't hold up to the normal engine heat and had to be redone.
So I have done some painting on them each year to make them presentable for
the shows. I need to strip them and shoot them properly and cover them with a
high heat clear coat so they last longer. I would like to find the best
method to do this without having to completely redo the engine compartment.
    Thanks for the feedback.
