well the first car I drove (without having to ask permission) was my dads 76 ford PU. my dad and happened across a 69 mustang conv and bought it in 1982 as a father/son project/toy as we had considered building a T-bucket but the mustang seemed alot more practical. the car was so fun that it became my dads driver for the next 14 years. that was encouragement for MY first car being the 66 mustang conv which my dad let me use the proceeds from selling the truck to get. then I found a basked case 66 mustang conv in a field. can you say tripower 289/4spd. a friend of my dads had a packing house, so we got his semi-lowboy and a field forklift to retrieve it. transportation cost, 1 cigar. it was originally going to be a $400 parts car for my GT but turned out to be so solid that it became a project on its own (yes still have it). I started buying a few junkers here and there to scavenge parts from and sell the rest as a means to fund the projects. on a side note. being charitable one day. I bought 6 raffle tickets for $5 to benefit some school. this was during my college years and the girl was probably cute. well at any way, my parents showed up to my work one day (that never happens)and told me I won a car (ferrari here I come. when I asked what it was. my mom replied 'an edsel' my response was 'a what?'. I had just became the proud owner of a green 4 door 59 edsel. well the car was pretty nice, it was a semi-restored car that ran perfect. My friends nick-named it 'the aircraft carrier'. well it was a good car for me. I drove the car for a year to do some work to my 66gt and let me take it apart for a complete paint job and then I sold the edsel to help refill my bank account. cost $5 plus 1 fuel pump drive it for a year sold for $2600 that was a great car so now a number of cars later, my blood had turned blue and the cars have taken all my green. bob
Vegas pics....may be too large for dial up. There was almost no time to walk around an get pictures as the open course stages were packed together. Several neat cars........many never left the trailers for fear of rain...and later hail. Here are several for your enjoyment. Dan C
