Re: Parts prices

  1. Roger,
    Good responce,
Just like everyone "wants to own a Shelby", but only those who make the
    sacrifice
end up owning them. This is America, we have very few limits on ownership.

I can't see the view of "these NOS parts ares too expensive". My wife
    collects some
obscure original paintings by "The Highway Men". The original cost was $ 15-
    $ 20.00,
now going for $ 300 - $ 1000.00 I think they are too expensive, but she is
willing to pay the going rate.

We just attended an Antique Cycle Auction. I heard comments ranging from:
    "That's
silly money" to "what a deal !". It's all in the eyes of the beholder.

    Always collecting!

    Ron,

How much money SHOULD it be legal to make in America? And who will be
appointed, or take it upon themselves, by force, to decide?

It's the free market system, live with it. Or die without it.

    Roger,
making enough money that some probably think it s/b illegal.

  2. It really depends on whether you are the buyer or the seller. If you are the buyer, you want the parts but don't want to get raked over the coals to get them. If you are the seller, you know that when the part is gone, chances are there won't be any more to replace it so you need to get what you feel it is worth to part with it. Kinda works the same with buying or selling the whole car. A seller may think that if they sell their car they may not ever get another one so it will have to bring what he or she wants for the car. These cars are only as valuable as the parts that are in it, correct or incorrect. That's why correct cars will always bring more money and correct parts will always be highly sought after and expensive. I do agree that more people should try to refurbish existing original parts whenever possible and not strip a car bare just to replace everything with NOS parts.
