Re: Price of new GT500's

  1. Let's get real. $40,000 on a Shelby GT500 is not a realistic price in
comparison with Saleen and Roush. A Saleen 281 ranges upward of $50,000 with a
supercharger. Not to say that a standard Cobra was $34,500 in 2004, add a 351
Engine and don't forget the $1000 gas guzzler tax figured in because there is
no way it will be under 24 mpg highway with the HiPo 351.
Yes, Ford can put it together for less than Saleen. But they will not want
to ruin the relationship with one of their prominent race teams.
I do not expect $75,000, but slightly lower than the Cobra R listed out for
in 2000, which was $60,000. If I were to make a prediction I would estimate
the real sticker price ( on a coupe) to be $52,500.
They could also have the equivalent of a regular cobra model as the GT350
that may be priced around $40,000. That would be close to an extra $5,000 for
the Shelby name in comparison to 2004.
Look up Saleen Mustangs and guess your own number. It is all relative.
