Don't use adapters. They are aluminmu and weaken the attachment of the wheel to the hub. High speed cornering (nobody I know does this) or a good bump (pot hole) could cause the adapter to break and the wheel will come off. If you participate in open track events, definitely bolt the wheel directly to the hubs front and rear. While I am on the subject, never run less than the correct number of lug nuts on a wheel. If you break a stud, replace it.

  2. I agree with Lee. I use wheel adapters for my front wheels (Weld rims) on my 67 drag mobile BUT I dont do high speed cornering or open track stuff. Ive hit several pot holes with it but then again I
always check the studs for breakage.

While generally this is true, and in the distant past it was VERY true,
but things have gotten batter over the years. I know of several people who
have used these adapters/spacers in track applications with no problems. I
have a set for a Mustang. While I haven't used them, I can tell you they
are of the highest quality and if I had the need to use them, I would have
no reservations in all but the most extreme track applications.
