I'm curious--how many list members received the exact same email (with YOUR name & car # plugged in) ??? And, what's the most likely source of the "sets" used (name, car #, email address)--ie, where did the scammer get the info? Dave

I got one, they probably got the info from the roll call list on the Car Memories site. Does anyone know anything about the emailer (MotorSport Legends Ltd.)? I have been contacted numerous times by Peter from "Motorsports Legends", both trying to buy a few of my cars and in turn trying to sell me some of his. I can't say for sure, but I think there is a strong possibility that they lock up a car with a deposit, try to "flip", and then walk away if they can't. The most recent offering was the 68 350H car that was an eBay frequent flier, the Paxton car with an automatic. It had struggled to clear 80k or so on eBay and Motorsports Legends sent me an email with the eBay pictures, eBay text cut and pasted, and a price of $119k "inclusive of their fee" and the car "is located in New York". He later said they had paid $101k after I mentioned I passed on the car well under 100k and the car was no secret. I have my doubts. Scary stuff out there these days - getting harder to tell if you are dealing with a principle or a flipper/ broker/ scammer/ etc ! As one of my old Ferrari parts vendors from the old country used to say "If we are not talking Boss to Boss, we are not talking". He wasn't talking about Fords, either - LOL Just my $.02. I knew a guy ( did not like him) that use to hunt up cars and would come take pictures when you were not around ( including hoping the fence). he would then advirtise the car (usually in hemmings, this was a while ago) and would get someone on the line to buy the car so he would run out and try to buy the car from the owner knowing what he was getting for the car ahead of time. he would always give a sob story of how he had to have that car as it reminded him of the one his dead father had or the one he had to sell to pay for his mother surgery...bla bla bla... then if he could not close the deal he would back out saying that his father got mad when he found out that he was selling the car as he was the original owner...bla,bla,bla... could not belive how often that worked for him. he bought a boss9 one time and pulled the original engine and trans, then sold the car. later he told the buyer he was able to find the original engine and had someone that wanted it for xxxoverpriced amount but would give him first crack at it take it or leave it. bob
I did a google search and 2 hits came up where someone with the same name was selling some parts. Didn't look any further than that.
