RE: SHELBY intake

Discussion in 'Shelby Mustang List' started by Mike & Connie Tripp, Mar 2, 2005.

  1. My car, #1229 was a Hertz rental that still had the cast iron intake on the
original engine. I purchased a S7MS intake a few years ago for my
'performance' motor. It was a Cobra lettered version made by Weiand. It has
4 individual holes as opposed to an open plenum.

The S7MS number is correct for 68, earlier years used S2MS. The carburetor
opening is a give away as to reproduction. The 4 hole version is a repro,
while the original had 2 holes. There are probably other ways to
distinguish a repro from orig, hopefully others will contribute.

I have a SHELBY intake with the S7MS number. Would this be an aftermarket
intake? When was it available? The intake appears to be identical to the
    small block COBRA intake.

    Thanks,
