Re: Strange Body VIN Stamping on 1970 Mustang on E-Bay

  1. Jim,

We've discussed this a bit on the Boss 302 forum. It seems that a lot of the '70 cars were stamped with partial VINs. Most of the Dearborn cars with partial stampings seem to start with "0"s, while the Metuchen cars started with "1" or "4". The Dearborn built Boss 302 that I recently sold to a fellow list member has 0F****** on the inner fenders, with the 6 digit sequential number matching the dash tag. The number on the block is the same partial number. I guess something changed for the '70 model year with the numbers, and I bet someone on the list can explain.

Interersting 428 1970 Mustang project car on E-Bay. It has a very strange VIN stamping on the inner fenders. It is auction # 4533214332. Has anybody seen partial Mustang VIN numbers stamped like this before?
