Re: Strange Body VIN Stamping on 1970 Mustang on E-Bay

  1. Thanks Bob,....... learn somthing everyday ...............

OF course we don't want to evaluate cars based on "anything was possible' that just opens the door for all kinds of things.

As for another post ... do/did have a 69 mess-up car 69 coupe, big block shock towers, staggered rear shocks, no front apron VIN's (except for some home made ones)

Was delivered as a 351 W 4V, automatic, AC, bench seat car. Order/need must have changed when this car was half way through the line for some reason.... Then there is that R code 67 fastback I ran across ;)

But of course very few New Jersey cars make it out here

    Jim,

We've discussed this a bit on the Boss 302 forum. It seems that a lot of the '70 cars were stamped with partial VINs. Most of the Dearborn cars with partial stampings seem to start with "0"s, while the Metuchen cars started with "1" or "4". The Dearborn built Boss 302 that I recently sold to a fellow list member has 0F****** on the inner fenders, with the 6 digit sequential number matching the dash tag. The number on the block is the same partial number. I guess something changed for the '70 model year with the numbers, and I bet someone on the list can explain.
