  1. All,

What I find to be absolutely ASTOUNDING is that now a company has formed that
is building CLONES of '67-68 Shelbys, tagging them with continuation serial
numbers, and asking $100-150K apiece for them!

Who in their right mind would pay $150K for a "Shelby" that was built last
Tuesday, and built by somebody other than Shelby? Just because they stamp a new
VIN on it that follows the old Shelby sequence (apparently with Shelby's
blessing) doesn't make it a 'real' Shelby. It's just a very, very good clone.
But when the clone of the real thing is priced higher than the real thing, with
no value added, then something is seriously screwed up.

At least the Unique Performance cars (ridiculously overpriced though they may
be) boast genuine engineering improvements which can partly justify their
    exorbitant price.

I'd say P.T. Barnum was right, except I don't know that any of these new
clone cars have actually been sold....

    Mike

I could not have said it better myself, Mike!!
BTW: It was great to see you again, and to have some time to visit. I will
    try to make Mini Nats.
