Pete and all- In NC, they do tax us every year, whether they're licensed or not. In my county, it works out to about 1.25% of the avg. Kelly whse. value. But there's a wonderful catch recently enacted. Any vehicle 35 yrs. old or older can apply for "Antique Auto" plates. Once issued, your annual property taxes on that vehicle are based on the actual value or $500, whichever is lower. Mine now have "Antique Auto" plates.
