I had my headliner replaced last weekend, and removed the inner roof side rail stainless trim on the upper door openings to get better access to the pinch welds where the sides of the headliner are glued. It's the piece that the upper door weatherstrip is glued to, which is held to the body with about 10 panhead type screws. And between that piece and the body is a length of rubber tape measuring about 7/8" wide x 1/8" thick. It's almost like the rubber seal strip used to seat the windows to the frames, but more foamier. Does anyone know where that rubber/foam tape can be purchased? Or do I make do with something similar? Looked at a few online stores, but no luck. One local Mustang shop suggested Home Depot . Thanks, Ken
No luck at auto body supply stores, auto parts stores, marine shops, or even main Napa distribution center in Sacramento. I guess I'll bite the bullet and buy this. You're right, not cheap! But I'll have enough to do 8-9 cars! Maybe I'll put what's left on eBay.
I put the remainder of the roll of 3M foam tape that I didn't use on eBay if anyone's interested. Item 220561844278 if link doesn't work. Ken
