    Re: Saac 2007

I really don't take "pretty" pictures at these things. More of focus on details of original cars and mistakes found on "restored" cars. Of the original cars I found

    6S2371, 67410F4U00803, 67410F4U00808, 9F02M48355?, 0F02G151663

In attendance and took about 500 pictures of these and others. Here is a general of 67410F4U00808

An interesting car. It is still owned (as 67410F4U00803 is) by the original owner. Well really second since it was owned as a company car (read transportation) by Shelby for the first year or so. In fact it still has the parking sticker on the windshield

Another oddity on the car is the fact that the passenger side was stamped with the incorrect interior color ... and yes Shelby employes took the time to correct the mistake

Another oddity (somewhat) is that 803 and 808 both had the light interior and both had the trap door hinges painted the interior color not like many other cars. Still looking to figure out when the change was made

Here is a shot of 0F02G151663 a local car - original paint, interior and eng compartment

And while I'm posting pictures I visited an open house last week in Calif north of SF of a private collection. Collection totals about 50 cars. From what I saw (of Shelbys six -67, four-68, four-69/70 as well as a couple Boss's and three -five new Shelbys. Add a couple K codes, one 68 1/2 CJ and big blocks. All one owner and one of the larger one owner collections I've seen

Just thought I would share ;) Enjoy

Wow...great pix! i have a question about 0808....what is the chin spoiler attached below the fog lights to the front of the car? I don't remember seeing this on any 67 cars. Was this standard, an option or a one off? It looks very cool and i would remember seeing it before. Thanks.

It is owner installed just like the front and rear side markers.

I skipped right past those!! it is early. my 67 must have had a chin spoiler at one time as there are holes that have since been filled where they would mount.

Tim or RC...was the chin spoiler an over-the-counter purchase from Shelby or some other after market company? Was this something done in the late 60's or later? And i didnt see the side markers...thanks.

I don't recall ever seeing front bolt on spoilers in any of the Shelby accessory catalogs. I'm sure it is aftermarket.

Front spoilers were not something Shelby America sold. Fiberglass spoilers was more of a mid to late 70s thing

Owner of that car was an engineer .... reason for some of the modifications done under the hood. Never got a chance to talk to him (daughter showed us the car) Wondered what all the electronic ignition controllers were for. Must have been 3 or 4 of them mounted around the engine compartment and grill opening

My car,#910 also has the parchment painted trap door hinges.I have a question about the '67 that is pictured. Is that a '68 fender that is on the passenger side as it appears to have a sidemarker light?

No markers are from a 69 added by the current/original owner. A popular (updated the car) modification during the early 70's

Still trying to figure out which ones were interior color and which were semi-gloss black and when they all changed (all interior colors) to black. Likely to save cost and effort. Thanks for the info

Great shots and it proves once again that we think alike..people wonder why my camera is inside their trunk...My question is on the vin .You transcribed it as color code 4 yet the picture shows a knightmist blue car and a 2 in the vin were they twins? or is 1 car a code 4 and the other a code 2? just curious.

No problem... could have made a mistake with all the emails and posts that take place daily... lets see

67410F2U00808 so yes I transcribed it incorrectly... THANKS a ton for catching it

You did bring up another point (over looked it as I simply was processing the pictures I took. :0 Forest for the trees

Take a look as some additional pictures of 67410F4U00803 the car that Shelby Inc kept as a driver/company car and screwed up when they stamped the interior color. Wonder how this happened ?????

    VIN tag
    [IMG]

    Rear end
    [IMG]

Engine code identifier (as we discussed in the other thread) and the "D"

    BAM!! Notice anything????

Not the first time we've seen this swap - especially during the 80's gas shortage period. Just wonder (if any of us had noticed we would have) what the dates are on the engine. Did Shelby swap it out (someone blow up the engine while they had it) or did this original owner??

While we are sharing 67410F4U00803 had one of those odd two piece front ends though 808 didn't. Nice flange to fit the two pieces together on the back side, though I could not get a clear shot of it for a picture

Not Shelby. The original owner swapped it out. I can't remember whether it was a fuel economy thing or he toasted it. I asked him if he still had it. I think he said he got rid of it because he didn't think it had real value.

    Snakepit,
The original and current owner of the #808 car is a member of my local chapter. I could probably get his email for you if you would like.

Thanks Tim for picking up on that and asking.... the rest of us had focused on the unusual way Shelby had correct the interior color
