I have a simple question: What is the service interval for a shelby 500? (not including clutch issues) I'm investigating and comparing cars and for the moment the only two survivors are ford shelby supersnake nissan gtr tried ferrari 458 but sound is awful tried porsche GT3 but is expensive for a "butcher's" car you see a 911 on every corner and the GT3 is not so special to drive. In Europe you can not have an American import serviced on every corner, the service interval will be an important issue (especially for my wife who hates driving me to the garage to pick up or leave a car)
Open the PDF file at this link: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WOBMUS/~MUS~LEN/42/11mussg1e.pdf then select "Scheduled Maintenance Guide" on the left, towards the bottom under the table of contents. A complete explanation of the GT500 maintenance is listed for normal and severe duty is listed.
Well, there's service intervals recommended by the manufacturer and then there are service intervals permitted by law. Europe is a little different than the states in this regard. For instance, Ford MAY recommend an oil change every 5000 miles. HOWEVER, some places in Europe only permit oil changes every 6 months or even only once a year. So this answer isn't so easy in your case. I would take the service interval document and visit/call your nearest Ford Service location to see what can be supported. I have plenty of stories of ordering parts from the states and then finding an authorized service station in England to work on my cars, which were still covered by warranty. This included acquiring all the correct service manuals, TSBs, and special tools and providing them to the service rep. bigb427, Your link doesn't work. You must have set up a subscription service for yourself. -t
Sorry about that link. Go to: http://www.motorcraftservice.com Click on "Owner Guides", then select 2011, Mustang, Shelby GT500 Supplement 1st Printing, then click on "View Content". The PDF file will then open with the maintenance recommendations.
