Did anyone else notice the Guitar that was used for the first couple of songs by Tom Petty's Lead Guitarist? It was Blue with White Lemans Stripes. David.
DERN NABBIT!!!! You beat me to the post, David. Yeah, I noticed that... I called my wife (she took the Superbowl as an opportunity to go into work) to tell her. Somehow, she was less than overwhelmed. Josh
Noticed it also. But it did not appear to be a Fender guitar as the I thought the Shelby guitars are...not sure.
Also the guitar did not have the "98" racing number or a Cobra badge on it. I do not believe that Mike Campbell was playing a commemorative Cobra guitar. But it sure did look cool. robin
Back before these were produced, some company produced a Shelby Guitar that looked just like the one he was playing. I did notice that it did have an Emblem at the Top Righthand area that looked very simular to a Shelby Series 1 Emblem. I have a Brochure for them some where packed away. I got it at SAAC 26. David.
Hello, I am new to this forum, but have been lurking for quite a while. Since this subject touches on two of my favorite subjects; cool cars and guitars, I wanted to chip in. I noticed it too during the half time show and got excited (to put it mildly). I knew it was not one of the commerative guitars, so I did an internet search. The guitar is a Duesenberg DMC TV custom designed by Duesenberg and Mike Campbell in celebration of 30 years with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I have not taken the time yet to learn to post pics, but you see it at http://www.duesenbergusa.com/dmc_mikecambelld2.html
I was curious if this had any car connection so asked Duesenberg about. Looks like it is just a coincidence but possibly Mike Campbell did have it as an inspiration, here's their reply:
