When I saw the prototype of the new GT500 I was really excited to see that the large Shelby letters across the middle of the trunk deck had followed the design of the Shelbys from the 60's. Several months ago I was very disappointed to learn that the logo had been changed to a smaller version on the left side of the deck. I guessed at the time that it had something to do with the third brake light configuration and Ford was too cheap to figure a way around it. The other day I was reading Motor Trend and saw the new GTH's which have the original Shelby logo. What gives? Is it because the GTH's have a different spoiler? I've contacted Ford twice and have been brushed off. I realize that this is a small thing when one considers how great the car is but mine is arriving in May of 2007 and I'm hoping to fix it. Does anybody know if the aftermarket Shelby logo that is available on the Shelby website will fit on a new GT500? Is that a bad idea? Thanks.
You are not alone in your concern. Many others on this site have the same opinion and would like to see the name across the middle...myself included. I'm not sure how the letters are attached or what logo you have mentioned from the Shelby website but I would imagine there will be some way to alter it. Randall
Thanks. I figured I wasn't alone. If I'm driving a Shelby I want people to know it's a Shelby (I've dreamed of having one since I was a kid). The link for the logo I was talking about is: http://www.hillbankmotorsports.com/...00009&osCsid=59e91b371290286966d321cd673fc760. It was linked to shopshelby.com which was in turn linked to shelbyautos.com. Let me know what you think.
