    Hello Shelby Lovers,

Well I thought I would try writing and maybe give you a good laugh.I am new to the ranks of people that are overwhelmed by the lure of the 66, 67 and
68 Mustang Shelby. The pricing for these cars in adds and on ebay run into the 120's 160's 200's and up, wow!!! I noticed in the Shelby Mustang Resource
Website http://www.geocities.com/eskoufos/shelbyprices.html under "Recent Transactios" that most of these listings are in the 20's, 40's and 60's.Can you direct me as to where to look for Shelbys that are more in this range.

Now for the funny part…Could a person ever find a old rust bucket Shelby with engine in tack that could be bought for less than $20,000 ..
    I know I know…ha ha

Any sources that you know of that you could direct me to?

    Thanks for help

    Bob Cooper

Do NOT use that as a guide, unless you happen to know that you will soon stumble into a barn with one, and the owner wants to give it away.
I have asked him to post dates with those transactions, as they are not current, and I sent him info on recent transactions, including the slae of one of my cars.
If you want a car badly enough, you will hunt one down, as many of us did.
it ONLY took 5 years to get the early 65 I wanted, and I was lucky to get it at about 1/2 of what he could have sold it for.
First decide what you want, and save, save save, as the days of 20k Shelbys have been long gone for some time now.
Good luck, and if you should find any @ 20k, call me first!

    Mike

Yeah, I gotta agree with Shelby6t5. The days of finding "real" Shelby's for $20K are likely long gone. But I hope you find 10, I really do.
The fact is, the old man is not going to be around forever and when he goes, prices will likely get even higher.

The muscle car market may be getting weak right now, but the specialty cars are still brining in the $$$.

    Good Luck.

I would guess you can buy an old rust bucket for about $50,000. That's what I've seen anyway. It seems that the lower end has climbed...along with the upper end but I think you could still get a good driver for $65,000 to $80,000. Basically what I'm saying is that the gap between getting an old rust bucket and a driver has closed somewhat and you'll probably be spending more to get that rust bucket going than what it would cost to get a driver. That's just my opinion though. It really depends upon the year, condition, etc.

PS - We would love to track the latest sales prices here but we would need some volunteers to help out. Let me know if you're interested. I started to set up a database about a year ago and ran out of time.

I too would be interested in knowing where prices really are.
What is a '65 street car worth? Maybe a nice driver...has anyone heard of a private transaction of a '65? I think that #328, a vintage race car went for $150k.
I bought my '67 500 in '04 for around $50k, it was a rust free, runs and drives car. I drove it home from Auburn, IN. It has some mods, but all in all a great rust free car that some day MAY get restored. For now it gets driven.
