Be very careful what you publish on Web or Blog sites, especially when it comes to original factory paper work. Recently, I ran across a guy who had a number of photos of his car on a Web site. One of these was a Shelby American document that listed a "Serial Number" of the car. Shelby used the Ford VIN number to identify Mustangs that were under construction but did not yet have an SFM number assigned. It is easy to overlook this as there is no 5R09K in front of of the number but it's the Ford VIN just the same. I pointed this out to the guy and that photo was gone within a matter of minutes.
Is there some place that will stamp you a vin?? I am currently building a 67' Super Snake and want to be authentic as possible>>>??
I think that's probably illegal in all 50 states. Hopefully, no one in their right mind would even think of doing such a thing.
Showtimecars: You're a funny guy. Go look at ALL the legalities over at www.boss302.com for some more laughs. Oh, and just don't add one number to the last, ah, REAL 67 Shelby built. SAAC headquarters probably laughed off the chair 20 years ago over that one...
Just how "authentic" do you think your project will be having never been produced by Shelby American? As for the VIN number; best leave it alone. Altering, changing or destroying a Manufacturer's VIN number is a felony offense under Federal Law. Applicable to ALL 50 States. Hope you know a good lawyer. shlby66
