TheCarSource.com Shelby Mustang List ------------------------------------ Question for the group regarding 1967 Shelby vin #'s / Ford vin#'s What are the thoughts regarding a 67' shelby that has had the inner fender wells replaced due to a front end tap. Frame rails are clean but radiator shroud and ps inner fenderwell were replaced for sure. I'm now looking at the ds as possibly having been replaced also. The shelby tag is in place and the shelby # is hand stamped in the ps shock tower area. My concern is the Ford vin# may no longer exist with the car. The car is certainly not a rebody but has had front sheet metal replaced. Title is clear and has owned some 20 plus years at this point. The problem being that shelby eliminated any type of ford vin#'s other than the factory inner fender stampings. Will my Title registrar here in Ohio have a problem with the shelby vin# as it is 2 digits shy of a ford vin#? If the ford vin# is gone is the car suddenly marked for life and never to be cleared simply by having had this work done? TheCarSource.com Shelby Mustang List ------------------------------------ it was not until the 80s (Ibelive) before there was an official format for the factory VIN I would think the ideal would be that the stare register it under the shelby number. shelby was concidered a manufacturer so it is appropriate that their number be used. from the same era the cobra has a vin numbers of COB #### or CSX#### and the 65 shelby had a vin of SFM 5S####.
