[Shelbymustang] Battery hold down bolts

Question for experts. How far above the top of the battery should the hold down bolts extend? Seems like the ones the vendors sell are too long and I need to know how much to cut off. Using a group 24 battery which is 9" high.

I am no expert, but I do seem to recall when I have seen original ones (old
ones that were intact) the threads only stuck up between 1/4 and 3/8 inch. the
replacement ones I got stuck up almost 2 inches.
