Spacesaver on a late 66 rim?

    In searching for a reasonably correct wheel for my spare (mid feb 68 build), ran across a wheel with a spacesaver tire in it with a code of K-1-6 8 24 around the valve stem. Did they put spacesavers on wheels that early on?

    Considering they didnt use space savers on 1968s, I would say not very likely. There were only a handful used on all 1968s. Most of those were dealer promo cars. Space savers were a 69 and later thing. Then most were on 14 inch rims

    Thanks Pete... I didn't think they went that far back. When I bought my car it didn't have a spare, but it did have one of those air canisters in the trunk. I found it again today when I was going thru some boxes of Shelby stuff.

    There were 317,411 1968s built. I think only six had space savers, none were Shelbys
