Randall, Have any inside info on this? http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/03/third-shelby-mustang-to-be-released-by-year-s-end/
Calvin, I heard that a "GT350" version was being considered awhile back. the plan was to take the Hertz Shelby type improvements and apply them to a GT Mustang. get evryone all Lathered up for a New Shelby, extort us all and when the first batch sells out, offer a less Pricey alternative model!
I do have some info on this but I don't think I'm supposed to share. Hold tight and the news will be forthcoming. There is another project in the works. But then again, Carroll seems to always have some sort of new project in the works. Randall
4,000 to 5,000 cars, per year. Made at the Shelby Factory in Las Vegas - Production starts end of September - Sold only thru Ford dealers. Anything else you all want to know? SGB
Once the Ford dealers got "clued in" on the cars it was fair game for all to know. I have seen and driven the prototypes and they rock - There WILL NOT be a GT 350 or GT 500 designation on the cars made in Vegas - They will simply be "Shelby cobra mustangs" Now, Carroll does retain the right to use the GT500 KR mockery (hint, hint, hint) c ya BTW................. If I was Saleen, Foose or any of the other "tuners" out there I would be looking for a different line (car line) to work on because "Uncle" Carroll has years of projects with Ford and I can tell you that his cars will outsell and outperform anything else being offered by any other "tuner" in the market-place. Perhaps Saleen can tune an Aerostar van because that will be about the only car/truck in the Ford line that Shelby will not have his name on!!!
I don't like modern Mustangs but something built at the Shelby factory in LV MIGHT interest me if it has a big motor in it.
I agree, which is why I am in the process of changing things around with my company, MUSTANG F/X, Inc. I am starting with the name (thanks Ford ) which is now MESTENGO F/X, Inc. Toooooooo many people are putting out limited edition custom Mustangs and they are all beginning to look alike now. Producing the "TRIBUTE EDITION SHELBY" Mustangs and meeting Carroll Shelby several times was a huge deal for me and I can never thank Carroll enough. I like to think that I had something to do with getting the Shelby name back on the mustang, even if it is just a small fraction ...... after all, The last Mustang (or Ford) to have the name Shelby, legally on it before the Tribute Edition Shelby's, was the Fox Bodied SAAC Mustangs.
