Trunk lid was on the car when it was painted at San Jose so it got a real nice paint coat along with the visible surfaces of the trunk - mounting bolts included As for hood the bottom would have been a low gloss or semi-gloss black before it arrived at Shelby. It was set on a rack or a couple of saw horse and shot (from the top) with body color - with no effort to mask off the bottom so overspray would be seen through the scoop opening and along the edges where the painter would have painted the edge of the hood - allowing for the overspray to travel to the bottom of the hood surfaces near the edge. Remember the old style spray guns produced allot more overspray than todays spray guns
No undercoating was used - just a fairly complete coat of semi-gloss to flater black paint across the whole bottom of the hood before the exterior color was applied Dd shot of the underhood detail - way too many 66 Green, red, black and blues where the overspray does not show up well (contrast) then add glare and the fact that few reproduce enough overspray like the factory did
