Just purchased my 08 GT. Paint and stipes are in great shape. I want to wax the car but am concerned about waxing the stripes. Any experience, advice?

I would not use wax on the vinyl stripes. I was told years ago that wax will dry out the vinyl. The stripes on these cars are not very high quality as it is . Just check out all the crappy stripe threads here on the forum. I have been using a product called 303 protectant on my car and while the stripes are spotted this seems to be helping to keep them from getting much worse.

I use a product that is made specifically for clear plastic bras and other vinyl products used on vehicles. The product is named Plexus, and it has kept my '07 Shelby stripes and its clear bra in excellent condition. It comes in an aerosol can and is sprayed directly onto the stripes, then wiped off with a terry cloth towel. Plexus has kept my stripes looking like new, and it can be purchased over the internet. A great product. Hope this helps, Russ

G350t. I bought a can of plexus after seeing a post about it here on the forum (probabbly by you). I used it for a few months and my stripes still seemed to be getting worse. I'm not saying Plexus is no good but 303 seems to work better for me. The bottom line is our stripes suck and no matter what we do they will get worse and worse looking as time goes by. I get pissed when I see a 2003 S10 Xtreme or Cavalier with silver stripes that still look good after 7 years and I know most of the owners don't do anything to the stripes.

One thing I mentioned in the previous post was that my stripes were in good condition to begin with. Plexus was used to preserve the stripes from fading and spotting, which it has done exceedingly well for my car. I don't know if it can "restore" faded or spotted stripes, and based upon the comment here, it does not restore the original luster of the stripes. I just wanted to be clear on this point, AND I do keep my car garaged. Russ
