I know Shelby and Ford had a lawsuit about this a while back, how was it resolved? Randall can you drop me an email?

I believe Carroll Shelby has rights over the name for vintage products. Such as the current Cobra production being built by Shelby Autos.

Ford has rights for new products. Such as SVT Mustang Cobra.

Randall may be able to provide a better answer.

I am not certain about this. Somehow they share the rights and it may be complicated. You can contact Carroll Shelby Licensing to find out. Also, you can find more information about their other trademarks on the Shelby Licensing website.
